Dear Parents/Guardians,
Starting Monday, November 20th, 2023, Granite Ridge Education Centre will go entirely nut free. There are several students and staff with severe anaphylactic reactions to nuts. Our Elementary Panel is already nut free, however starting on the 20th of this month our Secondary Panel will be nut free as well.
For our Elementary families, a reminder that Nutella is not permitted, as it is made with hazelnuts. If your student chooses to bring Wowbutter as an alternative please ensure the Wowbutter stickers located on the underside of the product label are included on your students lunch container to identify the spread as nut free. If there is no identification of the product a student may be asked not consume that part of their lunch, and will be provided with alternative food from our Food Sharing program.
We understand that being entirely nut free at GREC can be an inconvenience for some families; however the safety of all our students and staff when they are in the building is priority.
